Apple announce iPhone 6S, iPad Pro and Watch OS 2

Apple's annual September event is well under way and so far, some big announcements have been made. First up, the iPad Pro is now an official thing, featuring a 12.9 inch screen, An A9X chip offering twice the performance of last year's A8X and a new stylus, to help designers or note takers. It launches in November, starting at $799, so it is definitely pricey.

On the wearables side of things, Apple is revamping its Apple Watch with a brand new OS update known as Watch OS 2. It will be overhauling the whole system and allowing the watch to run its own native apps, meaning users won't have to rely on their iPhones so much to use it. The update lands on the 16th of September for those who own an Apple Watch.

Finally, we have the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Most of the improvements that you would expect are here, though the design remains familiar. That said, the iPhones this year are slightly thicker as Apple has taken feedback following the ‘BendGate' scenario last year.

The devices still make use of a dual core A9 chip, though the new SoC offers a significant performance bump. The iPhone 6S continues to use a 720p display, while the larger 6S Plus uses a 1080p display. The rest of the additions are all made within iOS 9, which we will cover in a separate post. The new iPhones will go up for Pre-order later this month, with a 16GB model, a 64GB and 128GB model available in the standard White, Black and Gold colours.
