ASUS shows off ROG Maximus VIII Impact Z170 ITX motherboard

ASUS has just showed off its latest motherboard, the mini-ITX ROG Maximus VIII Impact, bringing the benefits of Intel's latest platform to small, compact rigs. With a new platform, comes new benefits, including 5-way optimization, Pro Clock technology and a full-scale voltage regulator module for those that like to squeeze as much out of their CPUs as possible.

In addition to serious CPU overclocking features, the ROG Maximus VIII Impact also supports DDR4 RAM speeds of up to 4133MHz. Overclocking isn't the full story though, this mini-ITX motherboard is built with high-grade components, with plenty of other features for better on-board audio, networking and connectivity.

The Maximus VIII Impact comes with SupremeFX audio, An ESS ES9023P DAC, a headphone amp and Sonic Studio II software, which allows users to apply different EQ settings.

On the networking side, there is an 802.11ac WiFi card with 2×2 dual-band antennas with speeds of up to 876 Mbit/s, a Gigabit Ethernet port and ASUS's own LanGuard technology, which couples signals to ensure a reliable connection and provide better throughput. For I/O, there are six USB 3.0 ports, and two USB 3.1 ports, one Type-A and another Type-C.
