Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be ‘far, far bigger’ than the Witcher 3

CD Projekt Red claimed that it wasn't going to discuss Cyberpunk 2077 again until 2017 but it looks like the studio is just too excited about the project to not answer a few questions about it. The team's ambitious RPG was announced a while back and thanks to the massive success of The Witcher 3, many are anticipating CD Projekt Red's next release, which will be “far, far bigger”.

The comment was made by visual effects artist, Jose Teixeira while speaking with MCV. The Witcher 3 was the studio's first attempt at a fully open world RPG and many will agree that they pulled it off magnificently and naturally, the development process taught the team a lot: “Working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it”.

“We're really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter. I have a lot of things that I want to change and do better the next time around, and I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something that they go ‘I did this this time, next time I can do it differently, I can do it better'.”

CD Projekt Red has proved itself as a capable studio over the last few years with The Witcher series. Cyberpunk  2077 will be a brand new IP to explore, so it will be interesting to see how the team tackles that. However, for now The Witcher is still the primary focus, we won't be seeing Cyberpunk in the spotlight until around 2017.

KitGuru Says: Being a massive fan of The Witcher games myself, I'm absolutely looking forward to the next RPG from CD Projekt Red. It's also nice to hear that the team notices extra room for improvement for its next project.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
