PC system requirements for Fallout 4 released

Judging by the level of comments we get over on our Facebook page, a good chunk of you are planning on picking up Fallout 4 this year. Now you can see if your rig is up to the task, as Bethesda has just released the PC system requirements for the game ahead of its launch in just over a month.

Minimum specifications include an Intel Core i5 2300 or an AMD Phenom II X4, 8GB of RAM, 30GB of storage space and an Nvidia GTX 550Ti or AMD Radeon HD 7870.

Those wanting to push their graphics settings up a bit will need an Intel Core i7 4790 or AMD FX-9590 CPU, 8GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290X. In either case, a 64-bit operating system is required.

So what time will Fallout 4 unlock? Well the game will unlock at 12:01 am in your local time zone on the 10th of November, so some parts of the world may end up getting in earlier than others. In the US, the game will unlock in all states at 12:01 EST and in Asia, the game will unlock at 12am on the 11th of November, aside from Japan, which will get the game on the 17th of December.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I'm glad to hear that the game will be unlocking at 12:01 am in local time zones, rather than basing everyone's unlock time on when it turns midnight in the US. Will any of you be playing Fallout 4 on launch day?

  1. Don’t you find odd the Recommended specs ? I find it very high tbh, for Fallout 4, since it’s not a graphics masterpiece…

  2. what the hell is always wrong with devs and AMD? how in the world is a 7870 equal to a gtx 550ti? the 550 is not even in the same tier than the 7870

  3. not really 3gb Vram as rec specs is reasonable. Anyone with a 2500k or better and a dx 11 gpu will play it on good settings easy enough. Depends on the draw distances as thats where F03 failed.

  4. brace yourselves for those calling it bad optimization comming in through the comments!

It’s not a problem with AMD. Nvidia constantly paying developers to write poorly optimized codes for AMD hardware.

  6. called it 🙂

  7. i’ll grab the tin foil for you

  8. Anybody else find the i7 4790 recommendation interesting? Is this just for the fast single core performance, or is it actually going to be optimized for multiple threads to the extent that hyperthreading is useful?

  9. Do we know if the recommended specs are for 4k or 1080p? I’d be pretty miffed if it turns out my 970 won’t be able to play high at 1440p

  10. I have a Intel Core i3-4130T Haswell Processor 3M Cache, 2.90 GHz. Can I run this?

  11. i5 2500k OC’d to 4Ghz and a 980Ti, that should be able to max it yes?

  12. This should run it at a playable level, yes?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System
    Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU E5300 2.60GHz
    2 GB RAM
    Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset

  13. You must be joking.

  14. Dual-Core Processor? Unlikely.

  15. Likely solely due to its leading single threaded performance.

Multithreading optimized games are few and far between and then higher core processors would be recommended.

  17. INTEL 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5-4670K, AMD AMD Radeon R9 270X Graphics, 8GB DDR3 RAM, HDD 2TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive. I should be able to play right? I’m scaring myself. D=
