Apacer unveils 64GB 3GHz DDR4 SO-DIMM memory kit for laptops

Apacer on Tuesday unveiled a lineup of new DDR4 SO-DIMM memory kits for high-performance laptops. The new kits have up to 64GB capacity and can operate at clock-rates of up to 3000MHz. The new modules are designed for Intel’s new mobile “Skylake” central processing units and high-end gaming and workstation PCs on their base.

The Apacer Nox DDR4 memory kits – which consist of four 16GB DDR4 memory modules – are rated to run at 2400MHz, 2666MHz, 2800MHz and 3000MHz frequencies with 1.2V voltage. Each module is based on 16 hand-selected 8Gb memory chips. The modules are built on black printed-circuit board.

According to Apacer, the Nox memory kits were designed by the company’s Z501 lab, which was established in early 2015 to develop high-end PC components, namely memory modules and solid-state drives.

Pricing of Apacer Nox memory modules with 16GB capacity is unknown and will be disclosed later this month. It is highly likely that Apacer will start to sell the 16GB products after Intel Corp. starts to sell its Core i7 processors for laptops with unlocked multiplier.

It should be noted that far not all laptops support four SO-DIMM memory modules.

    I don’t believe 3000MHz with any kind of acceptable latency at 1.2v is a thing here.

  5. It was just a guess, I have no proof. But since we’ve got 2133MHz 15-15-15-35 latencies and 1600MHz cl12 latencies in laptops for DDR4, 3000MHz is going to be pretty disgusting with latency.

  6. well kinda make sense coming from laptop but i think 25-25-25 is way too sh*tty lol. try 16 or 17? sounds more reasonable but probably higher on the 17s.

  7. If 15-15-15-35 is 2133MHz, then I can’t see how 17-17-17-40 would be 3000MHz. Corsair had 12-14-14-36 3000MHz DDR3 sticks, but they were:
    1 – Desktop sticks
    2 – only 4GB in size each
    3 – Overvolted to 1.65v from 1.5v
    4 – About $770 for a pair to form 8GB total of RAM

    I might’ve been going overboard with 25, but smaller RAM sticks with already lower voltages on a technology platform that already has bad timing? And the sticks are 16GB sticks no less? I doubt it’ll be anything slower than 20-20-20 or something. If it was a desktop and they could just say “well use XMP and set it to 3000MHz at 15-16-16-40” and it’d be overvolted to 1.35v from 1.2v, then I’d say ok. But these are mobile sticks, and thus I doubt it.

    (don’t mind me, I’m just one of those legendary laptop enthusiast people that the internet hates =D)

  8. right now laptop best i have seen is 11-11-11 for 2133mhz chip on ddr3. with DDR4 at 2133 thats raised to CL 14 i think, almost like DDR3 server latency which is a joke.

    I am hoping these NOX from Apacer will be hella fast at CL15 or lower with 3000MHZ, no doubt they are using premium chips though.
