GAME is charging people twice for Fallout 4 Pip-Boy pre-orders

A couple of months back when Super Mario Maker launched on the Wii U, GAME customers in the UK found themselves charged five times for their pre-orders of the title. Now, it seems that GAME is having similar issues with Fallout Pip-Boy Edition pre-orders, with some people being charged twice for the game, while others are finding their orders cancelled entirely.

A friend of mine got in touch this morning to show me an email he had received from GAME, showing the initial £99.99 charge he was expecting for the game. However, an additional £83.32 charge was also issued, and other reports across the web seem to show that others are facing the same problem.

Some GAME customers have been receiving other emails, stating that their payments failed to process and that they would need to contact customer service in order to get their pre-order fixed. Unfortunately, the lines are flooded at the moment, with many customers complaining about hour long waiting times to talk to anyone, the site's web chat option also appears to be having issues.

So if you pre-ordered a Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition here in the UK, double check your emails for anything from GAME, as it seems they have screwed something up.

KitGuru Says: GAME really needs to get its act together, overcharging for pre-orders is bad enough but this error could cause some to lose out on their collector's edition copies of Fallout 4. Did any of you pre-order through GAME? Have you had any emails like this?

  1. I had my order cancelled. lines flooded, web chat offline. exactly what I experianced

  2. I’m still confused at how they get a payment of £83.32. £99 – £20 = £79. Where’s the extra 4.32 coming from? Although having recently spotted so many people having their orders cancelled I’m just going to keep my mouth shut and count myself lucky.

Feeling really bad for anyone whose order was cancelled, game need to sort their shit out. Honestly this is the first game I’ve purchased from game in a long long long time, and had the pip-boy edition been available ANYWHERE else, I would have gotten it elsewhere.

  3. Bethesda need to reevaluate having exclusives with Game – they are just not up to the task it seems

  4. I got stung with the double charge it seems…. has anyone actually been only charged once for the pip-boy edition without being cancelled?

  5. Just checked my bank transactions and so far only the payment of £83.23 has been taken out. This seems odd as the price i thought id be paying was the £99.99 price tag that GAME were selling it as.

  6. If you have a 2nd payment saved on your account I would check that account also.

  7. Yeh there are two. the one thats been taken out is the second payment they listed.

  8. Could be a ring fenced amount that is kept in limbo until shipping happens, then it is taken, which happens with nearly 99% of online orders anyway for any company, but it may be one of those rare occasions were the £83.23 is ring fenced for nothing, due to bad coding in their ordering software.

I work a few rows away from Game email advisers, I will have a word and see what they say when I go to work tomorrow, i’m off today.

EDIT: I don’t work for Game, i’m outsourced to work for another company, through the same company that myself and the Game email advisers work for.

  9. Hopefully thats the case. Also that would be great if you do, thanks for the help!

  10. when you fist orded that game yo made a £16.67 deposit add that to £83.23 and you get £99.99

  11. Ahhh ok that clears things up thanks.

  12. oops wrong comment

  13. Thanks that clears things up

  14. The £20 discount doesn’t come out of the £99, the fallout club thing would have been an extra £20 but you instead get it for free.
The £83.32 amount is because they took a £16.67 deposit when you made the order.
    £83.32 + £16.67 = £99.99

  15. I had a similar email but upon checking my bank transactions only the lower value was taken.

People should double check like Fred said!

  17. It shows up as two payments on my account page at game but checking my bank statements it took 16 quid at time of order and 84 quid yesterday. Seems like a glitch on their end and a rather unsettling one at that.

  18. I was charged twice but luckely my order wasn’t canceled, that’s the most important thing right now I’ll wait a few days before ringing about getting my money back.

  19. Unfortunately the Game email staff are not in this weekend, so was unable to find out 🙁

  20. Ah that makes more sense. Yeah the £20 deposit, was actually the £16.67 deposit, which is confusing as hell. I remember being confused about it when the money was taken also. Looks like they mucked up the tax on the pre-order amount (since adding VAT puts that up pretty close to the £20 deposit listed)

  21. no worries
