With all of the big smartphone manufacturers starting to make their mark on the wearable space, it wouldn't be too surprising to hear that OnePlus was working on its own. In-fact, the company was planning a wearable, along with a Bluetooth speaker, but ended up ditching both right at the last minute, just before the official announcement was scheduled.
The wearable was a fitness tracker, so not quite as advanced as something like Samsung's Gear Watch, the Apple Watch of LG's G-Watch, though it could have served a useful purpose. Speaking with Techradar, OnePlus Co-founder, Carl Pei spoke a little about why the product never made it to shelves: “we had a fitness tracker and Bluetooth speaker in development, but we cancelled both one month before launch.”
“We asked ourselves, what is the goal? We decided we needed to focus on smartphones, to ensure we're launching quality products and leave the wearables and speakers to the people who know what they're doing.”
OnePlus doesn't appear to be looking to expand in to more product lines again at the moment. Instead, it is going to keep focussing on its smartphones, the OnePlus Two and the newly announced OnePlus X, both of which you need an invite to purchase due to stock constraints. On top of that, OnePlus is now running its own Android skin in the form of Oxygen OS, rather than partnering up with Cyanogen.

KitGuru Says: OnePlus has become quite popular in quite a short space of time thanks to the OnePlus One. However, I do wonder how many people would have bought a fitness tracker. Do any of you own a wearable? Do you find it useful?
