The Oculus Rift will finally be available next year but chances are, you're also going to want a game or two to go along with it. Fortunately, Oculus will have you covered as Oculus and CCP Games have confirmed that Eve Valkyrie will be bundled with all pre-orders of the headset, given that this is one of the more ‘hyped' titles for the Rift, this should be pretty exciting news.
Eve Valkyrie is a space dog fighting game, where you will be in a ship flying around space and shooting at other ships, so it's a pretty easy concept to grasp.
Palmer Luckey made the announcement today, saying: “Eve Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games, and one of the first true VR games to go into development. It perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming, shooting you into a sci-fi adventure as you pilot a spaceship in search of combat. Battling your friends (and enemies) in multiplayer space dogfights is the ultimate VR thrill, and we're excited to partner with CCP to bring this experience to Rift owners everywhere.”
The Oculus Rift doesn't actually have a release date yet, so pre-ordering one might not be the best idea. However, if you are set on buying the headset when it comes out, this is an extra value add.
KitGuru Says: Oculus appears to be treating the Rift a bit like a console, with exclusive games and ‘killer apps'. Are you planning on picking up an Oculus Rift at all? Have you ever had the chance to try out Eve Valkyrie?
