Retailer accidentally lists Witcher 3 ‘Enhanced Edition’

Over the weekend, two retailers based in Europe posted listings for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt ‘Enhanced Edition', which sparked talk of a re-release from CD Projekt Red later this year. This is something that CDPR has done in the past, with both of the first two Witcher games getting an Enhanced Edition later down the line with plenty of improvements.

However, after a weekend of speculation, CD Projekt Red has denied that it is working on an Enhanced Edition of the game.

Writing on the CD Projekt Red Forums, one of CDPR's community managers wrote: “There's no Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that we are aware of, this is some kind of error that we will look into. Thanks!”

Previously when CDPR has come out with Enhanced Editions, it was to implement more bug fixes and improvements to the overall game in the form of a free update for owners. However, this time around, the developer has experimented with free DLC and expansions, so an Enhanced Edition may not make sense this time around without re-releasing the game with its DLC included.

KitGuru Says: CDPR has released Enhanced Editions in the past but The Witcher 3 is a vastly different game to its predecessors so it may not make sense for this game. Particularly since there is still one more expansion set to come out for the game titled ‘Blood and Wine', which adds a whole new area to the game along with a 20-hour additional storyline.

  1. It’s a pretty bad ass level of post-release support.
