Kojima documentary ‘CONNECTING WORLDS’ will come exclusively to Disney+ next year

Back in May of this year, famed video game creator Hideo Kojima announced that he was working on a documentary titled ‘HIDEO KOJIMA – CONNECTING WORLDS’ which “takes you on a journey into the creative mind of the most iconic video game creator in the world”. While we have yet to get a premiere date for the film, it has now been confirmed to be coming exclusively to Disney+ next year.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Kojima teased the latest news on his upcoming documentary, saying: “My documentary film ‘HIDEO KOJIMA: CONNECTING WORLDS’ which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in June, will be distributed worldwide in the spring of 2024.”

He continued, “The film will be distributed exclusively on Disney+. Directed and photographed by Glen Milner. The cast includes George Miller, Guillermo del Toro, Norman Reedus, Nicolas Winding Refn, Grimes, Woodkid, Churches, Mamoru Oshii, Shinji Mikami, and Shinya Tsukamoto.”

As can be gleaned from the poster, this documentary will focus quite heavily on the creation of his most recent work ‘Death Stranding’. That said, the film will also reach much further back, giving “a rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s childhood as well as his creative process from launching his own independent studio.”

With Kojima having such a unique eye for directing and story-telling, it will be interesting to see how Kojima views himself in the wider scope of the video games industry and beyond within the documentary.
