Samsung Galaxy S7 to use iPhone 3D Touch display technology

It seems that Samsung and Apple may have something new to fight about as it is being reported that the next flagship from the Korean device maker, the Galaxy S7, will use a pressure sensitive display, similar to the one found on the iPhone 6S for Apple's new ‘3D Touch' features. This will be one of the key features Samsung plans on using to set the S7 apart from the Galaxy S6.

This news comes from the Wall Street Journal, which cites sources familiar with the matter. The outlet claims that there will also be a curved version of the Galaxy S7, just as we saw this year with the Galaxy S6 Edge, though it will be interesting to see if Samsung can implement this technology in to a curved display.

Aside from the potential 3D touch-like display, the Galaxy S7 is also expected to make the jump to USB Type-C, which may be able to supply a full charge in just 30 minutes- a bold claim indeed. There is also potential for retina scanning technology, which a few smartphone makers have implemented over the last two years, this will provide a new way to use biometrics to confirm identity and provide better security for handsets.

Right now, this is all speculation as nothing official has been revealed. However, we will likely see more of the device in the coming months as the March reveal date isn't too far away at this point.

KitGuru Says: Samsung is still one of the top Android device makers but its popularity has started to wane in recent years. The Galaxy S6 didn't really provide the boost Samsung was hoping for so hopefully we will see it come up with something a bit different for next year's Galaxy S7.
