Back in 2014, Logitech launched the G502 Proteus Core gaming mouse, which swiftly became a favourite amongst PC gamers and received plenty of critical praise. Now, the mouse is getting a revamp, with Logitech set to release the G502 Proteus Spectrum later this year, the company has announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The G502 Proteus Spectrum comes equipped with the Logitech G Delta Zero sensor, which has carried across multiple mice at this point and has proven to be very good each time, with DPI settings ranging from 200 to 12,000.
On top of that, you will be able to customize your experience with five different weights in the mouse, this way, you can make the mouse lighter or heavier depending on your preference. The big craze in peripherals right now is RGB lighting, so Logitech is also including that here, giving users 16.8 million colours to choose from in order to fit the theme of their set up.
The mouse will cost £69.99 from the Logitech store and is already available for pre-order though we would encourage you to wait for reviews to hit before making any purchase decisions.

The scroll wheel broke on my Asus ROG GX1000 yesterday so I might look into this. Logitech products are usually very reliable.

I just bought one of these as well as a 402 in the amazon sale. Both have their good things and both have drawbacks The g402 is amazingly simple and the sensor is good. The g502 has the added ability to customize the weight and a unlockable scroll wheel which is so good i want to cry. However i recently took it on holiday with me and lost the bottom off of it which is incredibly inconvenient as it holds quite a large part of the gliding surface. Ultimately i would definitely buy them both again however i would like the flap on the 502 to be more secure maybe with some kind of lock rather than a magnet.

Yep. I knew this was coming. My vanilla Proteus Core is still serving me well though, so I’m not looking to “upgrade” anytime soon.
Can only say good things about the 502’s scroll, very solid with a nice texture so even the sweatiest hands should be able to grip it, and the free wheel has some really great uses!
So my revamp, you mean do a razer and “chroma” everything…..
Oh well, the Proteus Core is a great mouse, dont need multiple coloured lights for it to be a great mouse. G710+ i use is only white light, still a great keyboard.
I have had my G502 for some months now and im a heavy handed kinda guy and everything is still ship shape and splendid, What exactly broke? And did you contact Logitech to get it replaced for free? I believe these mice come with a 2 year manufactures warranty that covers mechanical failure, i have had many products replaced free of charge when they have expired within their warranty, and mostly all the ask for is proof of purchase.
mouse is amazing.. After 5+ years of owning a RAT7 5600 DPI, was fast for its time.. juped to a 502 at 12,000 and it puts the rat7 to shame… now I can’t use a mouse any lower then 8400 dpi or it just feels slow…
and yes I can game at a full 12,000 dpi settings.

Yeah, they’ve repaired it… in 2 months…
Cant say that i have had a failed device in that period of time, always lasted 12 months at least, except for one warranty replacement where the keycaps faded in 1 week. Every production run will have a certain failure rate, its inevitable with mechanised production.
