Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown becomes 2nd-highest rated game in franchise

Before Ubisoft had Assassin’s Creed, they had Prince of Persia – a stealth-action platforming series which shared many similarities with the AC franchise it later inspired. More than a decade since the last mainline entry, Prince of Persia is back and better than ever – with the upcoming ‘Lost Crown’ becoming the 2nd highest rated entry in the series’ history.

Ahead of the game’s launch on the 18th of January, the review embargo for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has now been lifted. With a current Metacritic score of 86 (and an Opencritic of 87), the 2.5D Metroidvania has immediately become the second highest rated game in the franchise’s history – only behind the iconic PS2 classic ‘The Sands of Time’.

For the uninitiated, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier who are known best for their work on the Rayman series – including the critically acclaimed Rayman Legends.

Considering just how long it's been since the last Prince of Persia game, if you are still unsure whether it’ll be for you or not, Ubisoft have released a demo for the game, giving you the opportunity to try it before you buy. Hopefully The Lost Crown marks the grand return for The Prince.
