There is a Tekken 8 demo on the way for PC and consoles

Ahead of its launch on the 26th of January, Bandai Namco have started to rev up the marketing engine for Tekken 8, showing off many of the title’s game modes and announcing an upcoming free demo.

Announced via the PlayStation Blog, O’Dell Harmon Jr. – a Specialist for Content Communications at SIE – said “The Iron First tournament is coming to PS5. To prepare my mind, body, and soul for the occasion, I spent a few hours training with the latest build of Tekken 8. After trading blows with some of the world’s best across a variety of new modes, I can’t wait to earn my spot among the elite when the game launches on January 26. And if you can’t wait either, then I have good news. A demo will be coming to PS5 on December 14.”

Harmon Jr then goes on to detail the campaign-like ‘Arcade Quest’, the return of ‘Tekken Ball’, character customisation and the interesting ‘Super Ghost Battles’ “where AI learns your fight patterns in real time and begins to play more like you.”

Thanks to marketing deals and whatnot, PlayStation users will get to try out the demo a week early, with Xbox and PC players being given access from the 21st of December. That said, all versions of the demo will include the first chapter of the campaign, Arcade Quest and offline versus, meaning there will be plenty to sink your teeth into.

While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
