Fallout 4’s next-gen update for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 has been delayed

Starfield isn't the only game Bethesda is working on right now. In recent weeks, we've seen an update to mod support for Skyrim, new content for Fallout 76 and we've been anticipating a ‘next-gen' graphics update for Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. While Fallout 4's upgrade was announced in October, with plans to roll out before the end of 2023, Bethesda has opted to take a bit more time with it.

The Fallout 4 next-gen update for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 will now be arriving in early 2024, the studio announced with the following tweet:

If you already own Fallout 4 on Xbox or PlayStation, then this will be a free upgrade. Xbox owners don't really need to wait either, as the Xbox Series X/S can already run the game at 60FPS using Microsoft's Frame Rate Boost option in the game's compatibility settings menu.

We still don't know the exact scope of this update but I would go in expecting a boost to both frame rate and resolution, perhaps even hitting 4K/60FPS. Anything beyond that, such as the inclusion of new textures or reworked assets would be a bonus.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
