Not too long ago, Square Enix and IO Interactive officially announced that the 2016 Hitman game will be an episodic release and now, we have the system requirements for the PC version of the game and they are fairly high on both the minimum and recommended specifications, particularly where CPU horsepower is concerned.
For the minimum specifications, those looking to play Hitman will need at leat an Intel Core i5-2500K or an AMD Phenom II X4 940 processor, 8GB of RAM and a Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 graphics card.
On the recommended side, those looking to crank up the settings will want an Intel Core i7 3770 or AMD FX-8350 processor, 8GB of RAM and a Nvidia GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 290 graphics card. The game will be running on DirectX 11 rather than the latest DirectX 12 API and the lowest resolution supported by the game is 720p.
Hitman's first episode launches in March and right now, IO Interactive's plan is to have all of the content for the game out by the end of the year.
KitGuru Says: Those are some fairly high system requirements so it will be interesting to see how Hitman looks and runs on the PC when it launches later on next month. Are any of you looking forward to the new Hitman game?
Why no dx12 who is holding it back i wonder (btw I own both Nvidia and AMD multi gpu systems b4 anyone cries fanboi)
Since they revealed the game is going to release in the most terrible way imaginable (episodic maps mini-adventures bullshit), I lost all interest for it.
It would probably take at least another year or two to adopt DX12 as that’s a decision that needs to be made before development on a game has even started and even then it will probably take a bit longer due to the fact that the API and libraries might be different enough that they would need to be re-learnt by the developers (I don’t personally know how different it is from DX11 but I do know it relies on the developers doing more themselves for the benefits of DX12 to really show)
Agree, there was a big deal about all these knew features, and as far as I know no one has released one. Indeed apart from ashes of the singularity and perhaps future mark, there are no benchmarks or demo’s. (I don’t want to order ashes just for the benchmark)
– An i5-2500K is so far ahead of a Phenom II X4 940 it’s laughable.
– You do not need 8GB of RAM
– A GTX 660 and AMD 7870 are stronger than console GPUs… the game’s “min reqs” should run the game equal to the consoles’ visuals and performance.
– An i7-3770 is so far ahead of a FX-8350 it’s more laughable than the first two CPUs.
– A 770 compared to a R9 290 is a rather large “screw you” to AMD… the R9 380X is a much more capable comparison, as is the R9 280X or 7970 GHz edition cards.
– A 770 isn’t so much stronger than a 660 or 7870 that it should mean the difference between low/medium and high/ultra.
I seem like i’m so full of hate every time I see these game spec reveals, but I just can’t help but feel so annoyed at this all. I hope that the game really does give console-level performance or better on a Phenom II X4 940 and a GTX 660. As much as PCMR likes to joke that consoles have super low graphics, they’re really closer to “high” or better PC visual settings these days. And the power required to get those levels of fidelity on PCs seems to be so much higher.
Funny how ashes don’t have that problem and ark could release a DX12 build but have delayed it (I wonder why cause I bought i based on the summer release of the DX12)
The best part is these specs don’t mention anything about what graphics settings levels, resolution, or framerate they are for. I’d be more interested in requirements being in 3s: 1) 30fps/low graphics/720p , 2) 60fps/medium graphics/1080p, and 3) being either 120fps/high graphics/1080p or 60fps/ultra graphics/4k. Then they would actually matter. Otherwise, I’ve never ever seen a point in checking minimum/recommended system specs for a game as they’ve all just been useless bits of info that mean absolutely nothing.
Also WTF…for the poll on the right of the page asking which brand your next router is going to be, you have crap brands like Belkin, zyxel, and edimax, but no Asus, which is arguably the king of routers right now? Or even Linksys. Absolutely retarded.
