Quantum Break is coming to PC too, has high recommended specs

Back when Microsoft first launched the Xbox One, it also announced Quantum Break, a high-budget action game set to launch exclusively on the console. After some delays, the game is finally coming out on the 5th of April but Microsoft has also just made the surprise announcement that the game will land on the PC at the same time, with full DirectX 12 support though Microsoft is recommending that you have a GTX 980Ti to play it.

Those who pre-order Quantum Break digitally on Xbox One will also get the PC version for free, so Microsoft is finally treating the PC like its second gaming platform. However, there is a catch, the game is exclusive to the Windows 10 Store.

Since the game is coming to the PC, it also comes with some minimum and recommended system requirements. To run the game you will need to at the very least have a system running Windows 10 64-bit, 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-46460 or AMD FX-6300 CPU and a Nvidia GTX 760 or Radeon R7 260x graphics card.

The recommended system requirements might just be the highest we've seen in a game so far, though. Those wanting to crank up all of the settings will want to have an Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD equivalent, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 980Ti or AMD R9 Fury X.

KitGuru Says: Quantum Break has always seemed like an intriguing game and I am glad to see Microsoft bringing more exclusives to the PC. However, those are some pretty high recommended system requirements for a game so perhaps Microsoft should clarify that a bit more.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

so you make a game that plays like no problem in your console, which in fact is a crappy low end PC but when it comes to a normal PC you recommend hardware that is like 10 times stronger than your console?

So eh… well there are 2 thinks that comes to mind now. Either this is 4K recommended hardware (or oculus…) or the port is so shit that normal people with mid range computers like me are gonna play it in about 5 years, when mid range GPUs will be the level of 980Ti…

  2. The specs are massive and that’s probably a port of some kind to be up there. Normally console ports to PC are higher specs because of the weird coding that they do for it to run… If it was actually made for the PC then it’s different and a lot less work.

Also it seems that Microsoft are releasing very specific games to Windows only, no Halo, no Forza on PC only the games that no one will really spend as much time playing and seems to be games that are not that fun or not long lasting fun.

Halo MCC or Halo 5 should be PC, Forza games all under Microsoft if you look into them! So I do not understand why all off a sudden this game is coming out for PC too.

Yes we all know they are trying to force people into Windows 10 with W10 only games but it’s a very weird move.

  3. The game running on Xbox One won’t look the same as the game does on PC with the settings they have in mind when they recommend a GTX980ti. None of this is anything new to PC gaming.

A console will also have much better visuals and run games better than a PC with the same power hardware. The console versions can have an immense amount of optimization that PC versions can never have due to the different hardware configurations it needs to run on.

  4. You aer 70% right, the issue is that PCs have to cope with the thick software layer of a high level API like DirectX11.

while this is true, isn’t DX12 supposed to close that gap?
Also yes ok, recommended probably refer to higher level of detail than the xbone version, but will I have the same details as the xbone if I run the game at low to get acceptable framerate?
Will I be able to play the game at the same level of details with my radeon 7850 (which in fact is around 30% stronger and have twice as much memory bandwidth) and my phenom II x6 which is so much stronger than the jaguar apu in there, that even if we say that the dual CPU in xbone double the output it still stronger by like one more 4 core jaguar?

If I can, then OK, I’m fine that I lost some detail over the transition, but if I’m not (and I fear that I will not) then sorry but this is a bad port.
I understand that some power will be sacrificed to the custom PCs god, but there are limits on my understanding on that.

  6. It states right there that it won’t be DX11 by making it W10 only so there is no high level API DX11 to note

  7. lol is this metro apps games?

  8. RIP grammar…
    RIP logic…

  9. Then is a poor piss example of DX12, it should lower the CPU requirements…

  10. Yep its just the poor performance of the port tbh. Considering it was going to be xbox exclusive they may well not have written much extra code to do the port.

  11. If you have a quad core (idk phenom 2 x6 specs) you’ll be fine

  12. That’s a load of crap, the reality is no one gives a shit as long as they can play the game. Your fiction pitting Console people against PC people is absurd. PC’s are always the go to for high end gaming because the graphics are better than consoles. Not because consoles suck, merely because you can buy the latest PC parts as they come out, and you can’t upgrade consoles so you have to wait for the manufacturers to release new ones.

Moreover, most people resent game companies that sign exclusive deals with console manufacturers. People like the console they like, the vast majority of people aren’t going to go buy another console just to play a game. It’s stupid and it turns people off. I know quite a few people that don’t play COD anymore (AVID COD fan boys) because they did that bullshit with SONY PS 4.
