Amazon is recalling Fire Tablet power adapters in the UK

Amazon is issuing a recall for some of its power adapters sold with its Kindle Fire and Fire Kids Edition tablets. The devices affected were sold since September 2015 and it turns out that the power adapter housing may easily disassemble while removing it from the wall, which in turn creates the risk of an electrical shock.

These adapters were only included in Fire tablets sold in the UK and Ireland so if you bought one since September last year, check your power adapter for the model number: FABK7B and request a replacement from Amazon.

“Customer safety is our top priority, and we are proactively offering to replace these power adapters with a new adapter, free of charge. We encourage customers to exchange their original power adapters using the process below. Please discontinue use of your original adapter. Until you receive a replacement adapter, you can use the included USB cable connected to a computer or another compatible adapter to charge your tablet.”

If you don't trust Amazon's own power adapter, the company will give you a £12 credit to your account to purchase any other adapter. Alternatively, you can use the code ‘NEWADAPTER' at the checkout to receive one. You can find all of the details, HERE.

KitGuru Says: A lot of tech companies have been recalling things like this recently, with Microsoft taking back Surface power chords and Apple recalling USB Type-C cables. Hopefully, this can be avoided in the future. Have any of you picked up a Kindle Fire tablet? Have you had any issues with the power adapter?
