Corsair shrinks power supplies with new SFX-series

Corsair is aiming at ITX system builders with its new shrunk down SFX-series of power supplies. These are fully modular designs with 80Plus Gold certification, making them efficient in both energy and space saving, allowing you to remove any unnecessary cables from your rig.

There are two units arriving, the SF450 and the SF600, as the names suggest, the first is a 450W and the second is a 600W model. Both units are equipped with a 90mm fan and come with Corsair's Zero RPM fan mode to allow for quieter operation.

SF Series

Here is the full list of specifications:

  • SFX Form Factor: Designed for high-performance small form factor systems.
  • 80 PLUS Gold certified: High-efficiency operation for less excess heat and lower operating costs.
  • Fully modular cable set: Detachable DC cables make builds and upgrades easy, with clean, great-looking results.
  • 100% All Japanese 105°C capacitors: Premium internal components ensure solid power delivery and long term reliability.
  • Zero RPM Fan Mode: Virtually silent operation at low and medium loads.
  • Seven-year warranty: Your guarantee of reliable operation that will last across multiple system builds.

The SF450 will retail for $90 in the US while the SF600 will cost $119.99. The former is already available worldwide at certain retailers from today according to Corsair but the SF600 will take a little while to show up at stores.

KitGuru Says: Corsair have a fairly solid reputation with Power Supplies and given how popular small form factor builds are becoming, these new units could come in handy for many people. Are any of you planning an ITX rig this year? What has your experience been with Corsair PSUs?

  1. I hope the Zero RPM Fan Mode doesn’t exhibit the same annoying ‘on-off-on-off with constant clicking noises’ issues of the Silverstone SFX PSU, which I read about in various places.
