Today’s patch for The Division will kill the ‘loot cave’

The Division has been out for a couple of weeks now and at this point, plenty of people have hit max level and are checking out the end game content and grinding for ‘Phoenix Credits' that allow you to pick up better gear and crafting blueprints. These credits are normally obtainable randomly in the Dark Zone or by completing challenge missions but a glitch was discovered last week that allowed players to kill one boss over and over again with a guaranteed Phoenix Credit drop each time.

This is similar to the Loot Cave situation we saw when Destiny first launched. However, a new patch for The Division will be going out today to fix this and tweak other parts of the game as well.

Ubisoft will be increasing the drop rate for better loot on named enemies while playing challenge mode missions, there was also a problem with healing strangers in the Dark Zone PvP area that has also been addressed. On top of that, Ubisoft is removing the Store button from the character selection screen on the PC version of the game, so you won't feel like your being pestered to buy a season pass every time you log in.

The full patch notes are fairly detailed and you can find them, HERE.

KitGuru Says: While the easy Phoenix Credits glitch is being fixed, Ubisoft is trying to increase the high-end loot drop rate in other areas to keep players interested. Are any of you still playing The Division? I completed the main story over the weekend and started exploring the Dark Zone, well until the servers began acting up.

  1. I 100%ed the ‘story’ (What little there was) and got all of the collectables, I don’t feel there’s any kind of endgame, there was no real ending to the storyline and I can see absolutely zero effect my efforts have had on the city…it has all of the drawbacks of an MMO without any of the good. Glad my time with this game is over.

You also have never attempted a challenging-difficulty mission, are lacking in “high-end” tier gear, and currently own weapons that are “entry level 30” by the sounds of it. The reason there is no endgame is because you stopped playing after the story ended, which lets face it was nothing more than an introduction to the game considering its size. Got to prep for the DLC content

  3. So, you bought a game that is literally “centered” around (pun intended) the Dark Zone and it’s pvp aspect, and you say the game is done? Hope you got your moneys worth. The game begins at level 30.

  4. Tell that to the thousands and thousands of other casual players who bought this on marketing, on recommendations and who bought it because their mates are getting it. Don’t act as though everyone is playing for the same reasons as you.

  5. Sorry to hear that. Always sucks to regret buying something.

  6. Wrong. I have attempted a ‘Challenging’ level mission just before I ended my time with the game and it was infuriatingly difficult to the point of not being enjoyable. I game for fun, not as a job.

Even with some half decent yellow and purple items, I had to lay down hundreds of rounds into enemies to even make a dent in their armour, even when matchmade with others who should also have been sufficiently geared. There’s nothing fun about ‘Challenging’ mode from my experience (Though I imagine it’ll be bearable with all-yellow gear tens of hours of pointless grinding later…) and I don’t really understand why people enjoy laying round after round into ‘bullet sponge’ enemies.

Also, the majority of the DLC is gated behind a £40 Season Pass that I’ll never buy, so that point is moot.

I got my time out of this game, but no ending to the story plus no direction on what to do after completing the final story mission coupled again with a lack of an endgame out of the box means I’m out.

  8. I don’t get your problems man. Based on what you wrote you’ve you bought (preordered?) game based on hype /marketing/or mates opinion and now you are saying you didn’t like it? Why not waiting for review on respectable sites? Have you had a chance to see open beta -great chance to get the feel of the game.
Now you “stuck” with the title you don’t like so what you do. You go to the site like this one and write complaints that the game is not what you thought it would be. geez. It like with going to movies, you do some background check of the movie you want to see otherwise you will need to accept the fact the it my suck. right?
