S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been delayed to September 5th

GSC Game World's highly anticipated release, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is now facing yet another delay, meaning fans will now have to wait a bit longer for the game. Originally slated to release in Q1 2024, the studio recently announced that the game will instead be released on September 5th.

In a statement, GSC acknowledged that the delay was frustrating but necessary. After receiving feedback from public events like Gamescom in 2023, the company realised that while the game felt and played like a true S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, it required more development time for technical improvements.

The title was first announced in 2010 but faced multiple setbacks, including a studio closure and the launch of a new studio, Vostok Games, which worked on a similar game called Survarium. Development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 resumed in 2018 but was paused in 2022 due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Despite these challenges, work resumed in May of that year, and the team has been working tirelessly towards the game's release.

The developers have promised to reveal more details about the game's “extended journey to release” later this year, and fans can only hope this delay will result in a polished and impressive final product.

KitGuru says: We have seen multiple rushed launches in the last few years to know how bad it can be, so in the end, it might be better to keep it in the oven for a few more months. Are you awaiting the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl?
