Watch your head, Jason’s going to crush it in new Friday 13th trailer

The upcoming Friday The 13th, The Game feels like a long time in the making. The series was at its peak in the '80s and '90s and yet it's taken until 2016 for a game that can replicate the premise of the series well enough, to appear. The developers aren't pulling any punches either, with recent media releases showing just how brutal Jason can be if he gets a hold of the troublesome teens.

Friday The 13th is an asymetrical multiplayer game, where one team of teen campers will try and avoid or incapacitate the stomping, masked killer of the series: Jason Vorhees; unless it's revealed to have been his mother all along. The other team, is made up of just one player: the killer, who's job it is to murder everyone else in as brutal a fashion as possible. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2bfaClAPjk']

The first in-engine trailer for the game isn't exactly one-to-one in terms of player interaction, but it does give you an idea of what the game will look and feel like. From the perspective of a hiding, whimpering camp counsellor, Jason bursts into the room and quickly decimates them with a sturdy blow to the skull.

However, it needn't be that tame. Indeed, a quick tweeted sequence by the developers shows a much nastier way to go:

This one is a strong NSFW clip, so take that into consideration on this Monday morning:

Friday the 13th is currently going through Alpha testing and is expected to release sometime later this year.

KitGuru Says: I'm really glad more developers are exploring the asymetrical multiplayer idea. Evolve showed it could be an exciting premise but that game died far too quickly to really explore it.
