New Gears of War 4 trailer shows off new protagonist and threats

Gears of War is returning this year and while the last few games in the series have centred around Marcus Fenix in humanity's effort to put a stop to the locust threat, we will be getting to know some new characters this time around. Gears of War 4 is coming on the 11th of October this year, helmed by new studio ‘Coalition', rather than Epic Games, which helmed previous games in the series.

Today, Microsoft put out a brand new trailer for Gears of War 4, which takes place 25 years after Gears of War 3 and stars Marcus Fenix's son, JD Fenix.

“25 Years after Gears of War 3, spurred by a series of strange disappearances, JD Fenix must embrace his father’s legacy and battle a terrifying new enemy.”

We will be taking on a new enemy this time around too: “After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy.”

Aside from those little details, we don't know much else about Gears of War 4 yet but Microsoft will likely be dropping more information in the build up to October. There will also be a multiplayer beta kicking off on the 18th of this month for owners of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

KitGuru Says: The Gears of War: Ultimate Edition helped put the franchise back on the map last year in preparation for the full series comeback in 2016. Are any of you looking forward to the next Gears of War? What do you think of the focus shift to new characters and enemies?
