EE was the first network in the UK to begin rolling out 4G connectivity to its customers and over the next few years, it hopes to ensure total coverage across the country. Over the next three and a half years, EE, the UK's largest network, will be expanding its 4G network to cover 95 percent of UK landmass, which will be up from the 60 percent coverage we have right now.
Right now, the 60 percent landmass coverage we have right now allows 95 percent of the population to connect to 4G. By expanding landmass coverage to 95 percent, around 99.8 percent of the UK's population will be able to connect to 4G, which is just shy of total coverage but still impressive.
In order to achieve this level of coverage, EE will be building 750 new sites across the country (via: Trusted Reviews) and on top of that, the network will be focussing on filling in dead spots and bringing connectivity to the UK's rural areas.
Aside from that though, EE is also moving all of its customer service operations to the UK this year, creating around 600 jobs.
KitGuru Says: It seems like EE is going to be making a big push in the UK over the next few years. At this point, 4G prices have settled down too, so this extra coverage should benefit most mobile users. Are any of you currently on EE? What has your experience been like with the network?
OUR PHONES WILL BE FASTER THAN OUR WIFI!!!
and yet I cannot even load a single web page in many parts of Central London! (e.g. london bridge) and across many parts of SE London, in particular in peak times (8-10am and 4-6pm). Used most networks and a few high end mobile phones. I don’t care about max speeds if consistency, coverage and reliability is abysmal. My mobile internet “experience” haven’t changed much for at least last 5 years and I still wouldn’t bet a £1 for it to work. UK is so behind with mobile and stationary access to internet. Don’t even start with lack of wifi on trains.
