Samsung’s first foldable display smartphone could arrive in 2017

Samsung has been showing off its foldable display technology for the last couple of years at trade shows like CES but we may finally see it hit the consumer market next year as reports this week suggest that Samsung's first foldable display smartphone could arrive in 2017.

Samsung's foldable smartphone is apparently known as ‘Project Valley' internally and according to a leak, it will launch under the name ‘Galaxy X' next year. This information comes from a post on the Chinese site, Weibo, which also suggests that Samsung's super flexible display will rock an Ultra-HD resolution too.

SamMobile were the first to break the story but unfortunately, the source did not have much more information about Samsung's 2017 plans, aside from the fact that there will be another flagship, which is a fairly obvious claim to make given that Samsung launches two flagship devices each year at the moment.

This is technology that Samsung has been demoing for some time so who knows, perhaps it is ready to test out in the consumer market. Samsung has been making efforts recently to innovate in the smartphone space in order to put an end to declining Galaxy sales.

KitGuru Says: If Samsung were to release a flexible smartphone, would you consider buying one? I would be interested in seeing it myself but I'm not sure how well something so drastically different would catch on.
