RTX 4070 Super graphics cards may use 12VHPWR

Nvidia has yet to announce its new RTX 40 Super series graphics cards officially but all rumours point towards a January launch. While previous AiB models of the RTX 4070 shipped with standard PCIe connectors, the new RTX 4070 Super graphics cards may switch over to 12VHPWR. 

Asus is reportedly working on a new Dual OC RTX 4070 Super. Images of the card have been leaked by @momomo_us, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the new GPU.

The card's design looks similar to the RTX 4070 Dual series card, but there are some differences. The Super version seems narrower and shorter, even though the new GPU is said to need more power (225W vs. 200W). Moreover, the leak reveals that at least this particular 4070 Super card will use a 12VHWPR power connector rather than the 8-pin connector used on the standard RTX 4070 Dual cards.

Nvidia is rumoured to be unveiling the RTX 40 Super series at CES in January, with availability to follow later on in January.

KitGuru says: Nvidia seems to be set on using 12VHPWR connectors from here on out. Although the first variant had issues, manufacturers have been working to improve the connector and cables with newer versions. Hopefully, the days of melting power connectors will be in the past going forward.
