Battlefield 1 beats out Infinite Warfare in trailer battle

It might be a little early to call victory for EA in this latest generation of high-production-value, AAA shooters, but in terms of trailer popularity, DICE's Battlefield 1 seems to have drawn a lot more positive attention than Activision's Infinite Warfare. While the latter was a stand out for its negative reaction from fans, Battlefield 1 has been positively positive in comparison.

Taking place within an alternative First World War scenario, Battlefield 1 offers something quite different from the space-faring brawls of the latest Call of Duty. While no one has yet to play either game, fans of the respective series' clearly know what they're more interested in right now. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7nRTF2SowQ']

At the time of writing, the like/dislike ratio on the new Battlefield trailer is roughly 980,000 to 18,000, with a total of 19 million views. Very respectable numbers. In comparison, Infinite Warfare has a smaller, 13.8 million views, with 255,000 likes, but a monumental one million dislikes. That's quite a contrast.

While there are still months before these games are released and plenty of time for Activision/Infinity Ward's hype machine to build some more interest in Infinite Warfare, this stark difference in reaction from shooter communities does suggest that we will see higher sales of EA's new Battlefield when it arrives. The franchises do a have a lot of common history, but it's interesting to note that instead of going with a similar, near-future scenario, EA/DICE took a step back into the past; clearly somewhere that fans would rather spend their time shooting people.

Perhaps it's also the lack of a purchase-limited remastering that has helped fans show their love for the new WWI shooter?

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

EA got this game / trailer sooo perfectly nailed down! COD has no chance at all… and I say that as someone usually hating both games 😉
