Rainbow Six: Siege is finally getting a ‘zero tolerance’ cheating policy

Rainbow Six: Siege has been out for around six months now but recently, Ubisoft has been implementing some changes to the game. Not only is there a cheaper ‘Starter Edition' of the game available to help boost the player count, but now there will actually be a zero tolerance policy against cheaters- something that is long overdue.

In an update to the code of conduct for Siege, the developers added a new paragraph, stating that players running a modified or unauthorised version of the game will be permanently banned on their first offence going forward.

“Cheating/Modding/Hacking: Player is running a modified or otherwise unauthorised version of the game client or a third party software which provides any sort of unfair advantage (wallhacks, aimhacks…) or causing detriment to other players’ experience: Maximum penalty is permanent ban on first offence”.

Obviously, if you are genuinely just really good at the game, then you probably don't have anything to worry about: “Being an online competitive game and considering Rainbow Six Siege's unique features of destructibility and intel gathering, certain challenges come with community reporting. For example, a player getting a head shot through a wall is quite commonplace. This has potential to create a perception that someone is cheating.”

“While this is sometimes the case, we are working hard to differentiate reports of players who are coordinating with their team for information (how the game is meant to be played), and from someone who is maliciously altering the experience with third party software.”

KitGuru Says: This is a long overdue change to Ubisoft's policy when it comes to Rainbow Six: Siege, as there have been plenty of complaints about cheaters over the last few months. Hopefully this will begin to patch things up with the player base.

  1. You mean they didn’t have a zero tolerance for cheating before? What did they do? 1 day ban? lol. It should be zero tolerance for any game, especially for paid ones.

  2. I am not a fan of online cheating it just wrecks the game for everybody else but a perma ban is extreme. What they need to do is reset the players account back to zero as in never played & let them have to rebuild the game toon from scratch. This will either make them leave on their own or play the game properly going forward. If they get caught doing it again then do a perma ban because if they did not get the message the first time they never will. Perma banning on first offense is just not right because maybe they can learn from it if they get a reset and stop being F*ck heads hey stranger things have happened. I say this because like the players that are not cheating even these guys paid for the game so they deserve at least 1 chance to make it right but if they do it again then bye bye losers 2 strikes your out kinda thing. The way the price have gone up the last few years costing more & more and then you have different editions of a game costing more and buying season passes etc even a cheater or modder deserves at least 1 chance to prove they can play by the rules.

What’s the point? Most accounts that use hacks are alts that expect to be banned anyway, no ones stupid enough to hack on their main. And if they got a second chance why would they stop hacking? It’s just a free pass to let them keep going

  4. Point being at least they are given the chance to play by the rules if they do it a second time then bye bye and perma ban.

In which case their second chance can come out of their bank account the the form of a new purchase. They break the rules, they pay for it, literally

Regular players boot noobs off their teams…..so I stopped playing. (Never managing to get any good
as you cannot learn if you are always getting kicked).

No. Things are so bad (in general) that all the companies need to do this. Ubisoft/Activision etc.
    Just look at the division.

(Thier UPLAY/STEAM/Origin accounts should be locked out for a month too.)

  9. play with friends sir.

  10. They did basically nothing.

  11. go look into overwatches anti-cheat. Jackfrags did a nice vid on it. That will do the trick.

Just watched it and I honestly don’t know what your argument is. All he did was suggest a premium matchmaking service and, correct me if I’m wrong, but the only ones willing to spend more money than they need to to get the competitive edge in the first place are the cheaters… Moreover the sort of thing he’s talking about already exists in the form of ESEA, FaceIt and a plethora of others. Sure, they’re unofficial and have nothing to do with CS:GO’s ranking system, but most include their own for matchmaking purposes and contain 128tick servers

  13. I might have seen where this went wrong. When i say Overwatch i mean that TF2 like game Blizzard just dropped. I think you watched the correct video i mentioned but only looked at the CS:GO side of it. Around half way into this vid he started talking about Overwatch for a short period, Thats what i was referring to anyway sorry for the confusion.

  14. Just to be sure the vid is ‘The Cheating Epidemic – Counter-Strike Global Offensive’ and starts at 5:35 to around 6:40.

  15. Play with friend? I could do that 2 decades ago with a NES in my living room. The selling point of online gaming is to be able to play with anyone the world.

  16. I play online games with people from all over Europe and the US and consider them friends. If you go and buy a TEAM BASED game and then complain because random people are kicking you of matches that’s your own fault. Play with a team in a team based game.
