While many tech outlets are currently chipping away at their GTX 1080 reviews before the embargo lifts, AMD is preparing to show off its first Polaris architecture graphics cards this month and it looks like we will be getting our first look quite soon as AMD will be holding an ‘inside look at Polaris' stream next week.
This is a ‘Meet the Experts' panel at which David Nalasco, AMD's Sr. Technology Manager at Radeon Technology Group will speak a little bit about the technology behind the new Polaris architecture, which aims to be the biggest leap yet for the company in terms of performance per watt.
This isn't fully open to the public, those interested do need to register and be approved to view the panel, which will go on for around 30 minutes on the 18th of May at 2PM UK time. Current rumours point towards an end of May press conference for the proper Polaris GPU unveiling, which will be targeting the mainstream GPU market.
There is also a rumour going around that AMD might bump up the release date of its Vega graphics card. However, this is most likely false information as there is no real source behind it at all.

Seems they only now realized you can get feedback there and seeing how everyone is expecting an epic flop vs gtx 1070 they finally decided to act.

R9 Nano is 175w and powerful than r9 390x while using 28nm..Polaris 10 not even Nano performance with 150w TDP on 14nm. There something wrong with this.
Nano has 4GB HBM, which uses a lot less power, Polaris has 8GB GDDR5x. Polaris costs half of what Nano costs. Good for margins, good for final price.
Bro the nano has 4096sp but then its tdp is lowered and its clock speeds are lowered and the clock speed vary most of the time when gaming

Polaris 10 was never meant to compete with the Nano or Fury X, that is the job of the Vega architecture. Polaris 10 is the mainstream chip, and it also doesn’t use HBM which is very power efficient compared to the GDDR5/X. It [the biggest Polaris 10] should, however, be comparable to the R9 390 in terms of performance.
it is, especially if users are gonna compare Polaris 10 to Pascal. AMD is behind, and the real competitor to Pascal was gonna be Vega.

because i’m thinking what they mean of polaris being mainstream is the price but the performance is still for high end cards of previous generation. When Gtx 1070 and 1080 comes out The high end Gtx 970,980 and 980ti will all become mid tier cards. So i would expect this polaris to be mid tier cards with the performance similar to those.
970-980ti will still be considered high-end cards for a couple of generations. Heck, even the 780ti is still considered an high-end card.
Mainstream (as I see it) is for cards that span a performance range from mediocre to good, and value for money (performance/watt) is what is in focus.
High-end cards are all about squeezing those last frames out of an microarchitecture. Performance/watt is irrelevant for these cards, and they will always be much higher priced, as it takes an enormeus effort to push a high-end card to the limits.
Fiji cards were supposed to take on the 980/ti, vega is supposed to take on the 1080/ti. Antigua and Hawaii cards were build to take on 970 and 960 cards. Polaris 10 is gonna take the mantlet from there and compete with 1060 and 1070 cards. Comparably, Polaris 11 will be competing with 1030-1050 cards (as I understand it).
