Apple's iPhone 7 is heading our way this September and while we normally see more of a major redesign with these generational leaps, it looks like the iPhone 7 might not differ from the iPhone 6 too much. According to a newly leaked image, the iPhone 7 will once again feature an aluminium body, with a new camera design and the removal of antenna lines running across the back of the device.
The image comes from a poster on Chinese site, Weibo (via 9to5Mac), and once again, it looks like the camera will protrude from the back of the iPhone 7, though it is positioned differently this time around.
This appears to be the iPhone 7 and not the Plus model, which is said to come with a dual camera design on the back. The final key difference we can make from the back of the iPhone 7 is the newly placed antenna lines, which now merely go along the top and bottom edges of the phone, rather than along the back.
This particular image doesn't confirm the lack of headphone jack on the iPhone 7 but at this point, all other leaks seem to indicate that Apple is heading in that direction. This once again points towards a more major design shift heading our way with next year's iPhone, which is said to go back to an all-glass design like the iPhone 4.
KitGuru Says: I'm not a huge fan of the new antenna line design but I'm mostly just surprised at how similar Apple is keeping the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 6. Particularly given that the iPhone has had its first sales decline this generation.
Seems very little reason to make anyone upgrade at all, especially when coupled with the unnoticeable upgrades with the hardware inside.
I know these arent cheap to produce, but, most mid to top end “smart phones” costing $500-$1k Canadian and usually need a 2 year contract is just ridiculous, not to mention phone thinness(tends to make them much weaker) lack of battery capacity(would it really be that much to ask, make it 1/3 to 1/2 thicker but increase the battery maybe by stacking 2 together) these minor incremental upgrades for essentially the same phone is sad, especially when doing a firmware upgrade that screw with battery life/performance of previous generation products.
I am still rocking my iPhone 4, battery hase 1800 full charge cycles, cannot full shut off because of them stupid fragile power buttons(nice for a $585 phone) I can leave sit with screen off for 5 days with some light usage i.e brightness down, send a few texts, if use for talk etc get maybe 12hr combined usage. So IMO batteries need doubling up, would it be to much to ask to have a cell have a main battery and the other act as a “reserve” or even just to ensure full time usage capacity is like 5-8day run time….screw making thinner and thinner, keep them a bit blockier but with nice batteries(which Apple does well with) and thick enough so they are strong.
Thinner and thinner and thinner, weaker and weaker, and worse and worse cooling and room to put higher end gear in it, look at modern laptops, incredibly thin, not durable at all and barely can cool to keep the investment from burning out. Blekk
