No Man’s Sky delay confirmed, new release date set

Just a few days ago, news broke that the highly anticipated and massively hyped space game, No Man's Sky, might be getting a last-minute delay. The game was only fairly recently given its June release date on both the PlayStation 4 and PC but today, Hello Games and Sony confirmed that the game would take a few more weeks to finish up and a new release date has been set.

Writing on the PlayStation blog, Sean Murray noted that while the game is content complete and play testers are currently going through and spotting bugs, there are a few “key moments” in the game that need some “extra polish”.

“The game really has come together, and it’s such an incredible relief. As we sit and play it now, and as I watch playtesters every day, I can finally let myself get excited. We’re actually doing this. However, as we approached our final deadlines, we realised that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.”

No Man's Sky won't be pushed back too far though, it will now be launching on the 8th of August over in the US, the 10th of August for most of Europe and the 12th of August for those in the UK. The game is being heavily pushed by Sony but it is also coming to the PC, so if you're planning on grabbing it on Steam, you can find the system requirements, HERE.

KitGuru Says: The big thing to remember about No Man's Sky is that while it is being priced like a big-budget game, it is actually only being worked on by a handful of people, rather than a massive studio, which makes the long development time understandable. Hopefully the final product can live up to expectations when it comes out in August. Are any of you looking forward to No Man's Sky? Will you be picking it up on PC or PS4?
