Computex: Prime units dominate Seasonic booth

If you're visiting Computex this year and swing by the Seasonic booth, there's one real focus there: Prime PSUs. The new units come in a variety of flavours, with high efficiency and modular cabling rounding out a solid feature set.

The Prime range comes in three efficiency ratings: Titanium, Platinum and Gold and in a variety of wattages. The lowest end is the Prime 600FL, though you can go all the up to 1,200w if you don't mind sacrificing a few years of warranty and a couple of per cent points of efficiency.

There is no high-end wattage Titanium version just yet, but Walter Sun of Seasonic told us that a 1,000w unit is coming. Seasonic felt that getting a more mainstream, 650w unit out to the public with Titanium efficiency was more important, so that was developed first.

All Prime units feature smart fan controls, which only begin to spin up when 50 per cent load is reached, which helps keep system noise down by utilising passive cooling where possible.

As much as Prime was the main focus for Seasonic at this year's Computex though, it did also have some other units on show too, including some from its Focus, Eco Plus and Air Touch ranges.
