Computex is under way right now and tech companies from all over the world are showing off what they have in the works for the future. This year, G.Skill has been showing off just how far you can push its DDR4 RAM modules on X99 and Z170, with extremely high speeds and capacities.
On the Z170 systems on show at Computex, the focus is placed on getting the highest frequency and tightest timings possible. Making use of an ASRock Z170M OC Formula motherboard, G.Skill has a 16GB (2x8GB) Trident Z kit running at 4500MHz CL16-16-16-36. Meanwhile on a Gigabyte GA-7170X-Ultra Gaming motherboard, there is a 64GB (4x16GB) Trident Z kit running at 3200MHz with a low timing of CL13-13-13-33 at 1.35V.
Over on the X99 side of things, there is a Trident Z 64GB kit on an ASUS X99-Deluxe II motherboard, running at 3600MHz CL15-15-15-35. The 128GB DDR4 kit was able to hit 3466MHz on the MSI X99A Gaming Carbon running at CL16-16-16-36.
G.Skill has also unveiled a range of SO-DIMM RAM modules for portable gaming systems and laptops running at similarly high frequencies. For instance, the MSI GT72 6QD laptop has 64GB of G.Skill RAM running at 2800MHz CL18-18-18-43 at a meagre 1.2V.

KitGuru Says: G.Skill is really pushing DDR4 to its limits this year. How many of you are currently running DDR4 in your system? What speed are you running at?
3200MHz CL13-13-13-33, mmm, sounds tasty!
got 32gb atm, 8x4gb sticks.. running 2400mhz @ 15.15.15.38 dosnt seem to wanna go any faster.. think its the CPUs mem controller..
Just bought 32GB (4x8GB) 3000MHz. Can’t run it past 2666MHz without dropping my OC..
I’d have no chance at 4500MHz lol
could also be the CPU MicroCode in the bios, i have some 3200 C16 memory, and I couldnt get it above 2400 (i was able to run it at 12-12-12-28 @ 2400 though), and then a bios update came that supported the new Broadwell-E cpus (i have an X99 board), the new bios had updated microcode for both generations of CPUs and i was then able to run my memory at its 3200 rated XMP profile 😀
