While both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive launched back at the end of March/start of April, there has been pretty high demand for headsets from both companies, resulting in a bit of a wait for early VR adopters. However, this week HTC announced that it has managed to cut down the wait time significantly and from this point on, the Vive headset is available with immediate shipping worldwide.
Now by immediate, HTC means that its headset will ship within 72 hours, which is very quick, particularly when you consider how long Oculus buyers are still waiting in some cases.
The HTC Vive can now be purchased in 24 countries with shipping in 2-3 days. The price is still the same, costing $799, which is more than the Oculus but you get a different experience with different controllers and lighthouse room sensors.

KitGuru Says: This is great news for those looking to get into VR this year and more people might be willing to put the cash down now that the waiting time has shrunk so much. Now we just need to wait and see how long it will take for Oculus to clear its pre-order backlog.
Ordered mine on Friday and I just got a random text from FedEx that it’s arriving tomorrow 😀 Hopefully they keep this up for others who are ordering!
i just walking into my local microcenter and picked one up. they had a mountain of them on monday in huge plain brown boxes by the cash registers and the employees didn’t even know what they were.
StarVR… It’s the best VR heaset of all. I want max field of view and high resolution and high refresh rate than 90FPS. Come on Nvidia, AMD, push 2 generations ahead, go into 10 nanometer volumes next year, make some large chips with lots of meatty performance for high end VR. What is your prblem to jump ahead with big steps?
My oculus rift still hasn’t arrived and I was one of the first to Pre-order.
Kinda don’t care if it ever shows up now.
