Twitch to follow Valve’s lead and clamp down on CS:GO gambling

Last night, Valve finally spoke out about all of the recent news surrounding the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gambling scene. In short, Valve never made any money from it and the company does not support it and will begin taking action against sites using Steam's APIs to run a gambling business. Now, Twitch has also taken a position against CS:GO skin betting.

There are quite a few streamers out there who help promote CS:GO gambling sites by using them on stream. While this isn't a new update to the Terms of Service, Twitch has said explicitly that streaming CS:GO gambling activity is no longer allowed, since it breaks Valve's own TOS.

In a blog post on Twitch, the company wrote: “broadcasters are not permitted to stream content that breaks the terms of service or user agreements of third-parties. As such, content in which the broadcaster uses or promotes services that violate Valve’s stated restrictions is prohibited on Twitch.”

This means streamers who are sponsored by CS:GO skin betting sites, will also need to stop promoting in order to comply with Twitch's terms of service, so this could end up having quite a big impact if properly enforced.

KitGuru Says: There are a lot of streamers that do broadcast their CS:GO gambling activity so it will be interesting to see how well enforced this new ban is. Have any of you ever used a CS:GO gambling site? How do you feel about the recent crackdowns from Twitch and Valve?
