The Witcher 3 is getting a Game of the Year Edition

If you still haven't got around to picking up The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, then you might want to give it another month or so as word on the street is that CD Projekt Red is planning on releasing a Game of the Year Edition in August, packing in the base game, 16 free DLCs and two game expansions into one package.

The Game of the Year Edition was first spotted on the USK classifications page, where a rating was given to the game. Then in a statement given to Eurogamer, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game's director confirmed that a GOTY edition would be coming out soon.

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a gigantic effort for the entire studio, and both the team and me were amazed by the good reception of Geralt's adventures. Since launch, we've released two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which added a lot of new adventures to the already potent mix. With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game's interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we're working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition. I'm happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We'll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I'd like to thank every fan of the game for their support – you're really amazing”

According to current rumours, The Witcher 3: GOTY will be coming out on the 26th of August but CDPR has yet to confirm that.

KitGuru Says: The Witcher 3 has had some huge UI changes and mechanic additions since its launch so if you have yet to jump in, the GOTY will probably give you the best, most complete experience you could ask for. Have any of you yet to pick up The Witcher? Do you think you'll jump in for the GOTY edition?
