Over the years, more and more developers have joined Steam, pushing the number of released titles each year. Over the course of 2023, Valve's PC games platform hit new records, with over 14,500 games releasing over the last 12 months.
According to SteamDB, in 2023, 14,531 titles joined Steam, beating out 2022's record with an extra 2000 games. If we break this down, that would mean that nearly 39 games arrived on Steam each day for the full year.
The number of games released on Steam typically increases every single year, with few exceptions. This led to some issues with discoverability but Valve has addressed this with more personalised Steam Store suggestions, as well as new initiatives like Steam Next Fest, allowing developers to showcase their upcoming games and provide free demos.
So far, 2024 is shaping up to be another big year for Steam. We're only a couple of days into the year but dozens of new games have already arrived on the store. Perhaps in 2024, we'll see Steam breaking over 15,000 games in a single year.

KitGuru Says: While this is an impressive number it is also worth noting that Steam does end up with a lot of low-effort and poor quality titles on its store too, which certainly boosts the numbers. However, there are also a ton of indie gems to be found too, alongside the usual wave of big AAA games.
