God of War Remastered trilogy may be on the way for PS5

During the PS4 and PS5 era, Sony's main focus has been on its acclaimed God of War reboot series, which took the game in a very different direction compared to the original trilogy. However, recent buzz hints at a potential revival of the hack-and-slash trilogy, offering enthusiasts a nostalgic journey through the franchise's roots.

In a recent podcast with Jeff Grubb, XboxEra's Nick Baker, who regularly shares rumours and leaks he hears about, claimed to have heard about an upcoming remaster of the God of War trilogy. However, he has not been able to confirm the scope of the project, so we don't know how ambitious the remastering effort will be.

The God of War Collection, which contained remasters of the first two games, released on PS3 many years ago, alongside God of War 3, the last hack-and-slash style game in the series to date. A God of War 3 Remaster also released on the PS4.

For this supposed new remaster, we would hope to see something that takes more advantage of the PS5's hardware.

There is no official word on a remastered God of War trilogy just yet but the original game hits its two-decade anniversary in 2025, so this could potentially line up with that.
