PUBG publisher Krafton to produce Palworld for smartphones

It looks like Palworld is heading to smartphones. Recently, the South Korean publisher, Krafton, responsible for PUBG and PUBG Mobile, is working with Pocketpair to bring the Pokemon-inspired survival game to Android and iOS.

Krafton has a decent amount of experience with open world games on mobile. PUBG on smartphones was quite the achievement when it first launched and as phones have become more powerful, it looks and runs better than ever nowadays.

Krafton has secured a licensing agreement with Pocketpair to produce the mobile version of Palworld, but it is not yet clear if we will get a direct version of the game on smartphones, or a spin-off of sorts. Considering the work Krafton did with PUBG Mobile, I would anticipate it being the former, rather than the latter.

Pocketpair is still facing a patent dispute from Nintendo in Japan, and rumour has it that Nintendo is also preparing to file a similar case in the US court circuit. However, some experts have shed doubt on the strength of Nintendo's case. In the meantime though, it has forced Pocketpair to keep the game off of PS5 in Japan.

KitGuru Says: I think what we'll end up with here is a true 1:1 conversion of Palworld for smartphones. As for when it will come out, that could take a couple of years.
