No Man’s Sky trailer shows off vast exploration

No Man's Sky is one of the most anticipated games of this generation so far and now, it will finally be coming out next month. In the build up to launch day, Hello Games' has begun putting out new videos focussing on what you'll be doing in No Man's Sky, with the first trailer showing off just how vast and varied the universe is.

No Man's Sky is a game that prides itself on how large the universe is, with over 18 quintillion planets to find. The video's description also lets us know the main goal for players in No Man's Sky, which is to reach the centre of the universe. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AVmI73va4g']

There are a few more videos to come, focussing on combat, survival and the trading system. Hopefully once all of these videos are out, we will have a better idea of what No Man's Sky is all about and what sort of a game it really is as up until now, it has been quite vague.

KitGuru Says: Now that we know that the main goal of No Man's Sky is to find the centre of the universe, it does seem like exploration will be one of the biggest factors for this game. Are any of you excited for No Man's Sky to come out next month?

I basically profit approximately $6k-$8k /a month from working online at home. Anyone looking to work easy freelance work for 2h-5h /day from your house and get solid paycheck while doing it… This is perfect for you… SELF19.COM

  2. Not worth the money. A single player exploration/survival game…This is out of reach to compete against Star Citizen… No thank you Hello Games. Too expensive for less content, fidelity and gameplay.

  3. …It’s not even out yet lol. Neither is Star Citizen. And I honestly don’t trust the developer(s) of Star Citizen: http://mygaming.co.za/news/business/81998-the-star-citizen-scandal-how-is-the-90-million-being-spent.html. No Man’s Sky is definitely worth the money, there are frickin 18 quintillion planets to explore my dude.

  4. Have you played in the public Alpha of Star Citizen? It is true that Crytek don’t have a good reputation among the game devs, and they are also working with CIG. You shouldn’t be convinced by that just one scandal that they scammed 1.5 million people and stole their money just like that. Honestly, idk who wrote that article, but it was not well written. Also, CIG has already made a tour in their studios in the last 3 Around the Verse videos. Go see them and tell me if you see anything suspicious, cuz I personally can’t!

And also, did I hear right about that No Man’s Sky was developed for 4 years? If this is true, why is such a game classified as a single player survival game? Just from that trailer, it feels as if the devs have done a sloppy job. The game should have the fidelity to rival with Star Citizen and all of the other most graphically intensive AAA titles. That thing looks like WoW to me. Sorry but 60$ is clearly an overprice for such a game, I will wait and see but I don’t trust HelloGames on this one…

  5. Then again Star Citizen has over 100 million dollars in funding and a team of about 300 people and still no release date is in sight. This IS an indie game that started with a couple devs and is now what, 20 people? Orders of magnitude different mate.

Also not really sure about your comment on the style. To be honest this looks better than SC to me, simply because it has its own unique style. It looks great and it’s miles ahead of WoW. And it’s defined as a Single Player survival cause that’s the game – how does the period of development factors into that if that’s what they were after?

  6. Once upon a time.

There was a game called starbound.
It had purple and pink ground blocks.

It had billions of planets to explore.
not one of them was interesting to explore
the game was a huge let down
and everyone just went back to terraria.

Now we have NO MAN’S SKY

It has purple and pink ground
    it has quintillions of planets
non of them will probably be very interesting beyond a few hours of play

it will probably be a huge let down too~!

And I hope I am wrong, but there you go, that’s what I see so far. Star Citizen does look better but, both of these games might turn up pretty cool, or pretty dull after a day or 2. It is silly to avoid this game just because SC might be better. Both should be in any gamers library if they turn up awesome.

I am highly skeptical but yet hopeful.

And please don’t remind me that Starbound is only in beta. I know… I don’t care. I have 0 confidence that version 1.0 will be hardly any better then what we already have. The devs do not know what they are doing, end of story and have a nice day!

    EQ Landmark sucks too.

    have a nice day.

  7. WhiteSkyMage, you do realize that they used 9 MILLION dollars of backer money for their own purposes? Lol this isn’t your average “one scandal”. I would never back it, because a) they use the money for things other than the game and b) it’s got so much funding that idk why it isn’t released or has a release date yet. Gameinformer and other video game publications have stopped talking about Star Citizen because it’s literally going nowhere. At least Hello Games was honest about their game. Also, the reason NMS has been in development for so long is because they were having a legal battle with the European TV producer Sky. Apparently Sky TV trademarked the word “Sky” and when they figured out that there was a game with that word in the title, they took Hello Games to court and it was recently ruled that Hello Games could keep the name. The game could have been out long ago, but they were in a stupid legal battle to keep the rights to their game. Still can’t believe indie devs still have to put up with that shit. Also, the game looks nothing like WoW, I don’t know how you drew that comparison because they’re nothing alike. And I also have no idea how you think that Star Citizen can compete with NMS, Star Citizen basically has glitzy graphics but really nothing to do yet except for repair space stations lol. The devs for Star Citizen have a lot of promises to keep, and I know for a fact that NMS already has all of the features that they said they were going to put in plus more. Lastly, this game looks to be much more exciting than crap AAA games that cost $60 like Halo 5, The Division, and Star Wars Battlefront. If those games are worth 60 bucks then you had better bet your ass that No Man’s Sky will be worth 60 bucks.

  8. Spoken like someone who’s never worked in an office in their life but loves being an armchair executive! If you think SC is a scam then you’re just stupid.

  9. Sc started with 7 folks. You can’t just instantly hire 300 people and studios as funding trickles in over 3 years. Plus games normally take 4+ years to make but hey, doing some research before spouting shit and claiming something is a scam is just silly!

  10. What? Where did I claim that? See what I replied and who I replied to before going off on an online comment. I think both games are impressive, but comparing them makes no sense whatsoever. The guy I replied said that because NMS has been in development for 4 years, it shouldn’t be single play survival. Which I tried to explain makes no sense.

So much hype…all those AAA graphics all 6GB (A lot of which is audio).
    Nope… a bargin bin purchase

  13. Well they didn’t have to go for what quintillion planets, they could just make a smaller universe, that is still survival but at least be MULTIPLAYER! I would personally find survial and exploration more fun to do with friends than solo. That’s mostly what pissed at those devs that they don’t realize it’s important. So they finished the game, with or without multiplayer, we don’t know yet, then they will release the game. People would look for a way to play with their friends and then complain. Guess what? Then reviews would just go bad, and the devs would just come up with the STUPID excuse to say that there is no need of multiplayer mode (OH HELL IT DOES NEED IT!).
The game would be much more interesting if they opted for at least small amount of players, just like in Ark Survival. So you play with a group of friends (CROSS PLATFROM PC and PS4), you “survive” with them and then there are other groups of people doing the same as you. At some point when you guys meet in space, you either fight or cooperate. Just like it is in Ark Survival Evolved, but here, with a different gameplay and style. What do you say about that? Isn’t it a better idea than you just playing a plain solo game?
Now I do not know if they actually opted for this. What I thought at first was that it will still be a multiplayer. Everyone will be spread around the galaxy, but you will still be able to meet people. Then they started talking about really single player, so for me, that was the big deal breaker. I didn’t want a single player experience. I just hope I am wrong in the end and they really put an online mode. Or id rate this game 5/10 with a blink of an eye and not even give them a penny for it, rather go pirate it.

  14. Never said anything was a scam, just that I don’t trust the devs of SC just yet. Again, they have a lot of promises to keep and they haven’t kept some of them in the past. And, there’s that whole 9 million dollar scandal thing I talked about earlier.
