First image of GTX 1060 appears online

AMD is set to launch the RX 480 very soon but it looks like Nvidia won't be too far behind with a mid-range offering of its own as the first image of the GTX 1060 has appeared online today, ahead of a launch rumoured to happen as soon as next month.

The image shows off the GTX 1060 with a redesigned reference cooler, one that looks closer to the new Founder's Edition coolers but with more black accents and without the heatsink window.

The GTX 1060 is currently said to launch with the GP106-400 GPU with 1280 CUDA cores and 6GB of VRAM using a 192-bit memory bus, according to Videocardz. However, there is also a 3GB version of the 1060 planned according to Benchlife, which is said to feature the GP106-300 GPU.

The GTX 1060 will be positioned against AMD's upcoming RX 480, which is aiming to be VR-capable at just $199. There is no word on pricing for the 1060.

KitGuru Says: As always with unofficial information, take it with a pinch of salt. That said, it will be interesting to see how the GTX 1060 performs up against AMD's RX 480 when they both launch.

  1. Ok sure, they’re making it as budget as they can, but surely even NVidia can figure out how to make cheap plastic not look like a pile shit

  2. looks just like the 1080, wtf are you talking about?

  3. Somewhat surprising that they’re going for that cooler, oh well, I guess a 1060 won’t need that much anyway. Will be interesting to see Half Height cards though as recent series since the 750Ti seem to have forgotten about those HTPC people who use HH form factor GPUs.

  5. Ladies and Gentlemen and not so gentlemen….

Presenting the card that 80% of will probably be buying over the next year, cause we are all too poor for a 1080! =D

Can’t wait to get rid of you AMD, I hate your drivers, have a nice day.
