HBO doesn’t want you searching for Game of Thrones boobs

Although the engaging characters and story arcs are what keep viewers watching Game of Thrones, there's no denying that the nudity and violence help draw in first time viewers and titillate regulars. HBO wants to keep that eye candy for itself though, as it's taking down nude clips of the show from porn sites.

Tube sites often publish content uploaded by users, ostensibly to allow a wealth of amateur content to thrive, though it course also facilitates copyright infringement without placing blame on the platform provider. That has lead to many scenes from Game of Thrones where male and female actors are nude or engaging in sex, being published to those sites.

For obvious reasons.

PornHub stats show that following the premier of the show, searches for GoT content went up by huge numbers

HBO doesn't like that at all though and has begun using take down tools to target sites like PornHub, removing scenes of Daenerys Targaryen, Missanedei, Melisandre and others from the site.

Of course it didn't take long for uploaders to just put it all back up again, so we may see a continual back and forth struggle between parties as both try to have their way with the site's content, as it were.

TorrentFreak reports that HBO has also been going after porn parodies of the show, looking to have them taken down too. It's not the only one either, as Blizzard has purportedly been targeting Overwatch porn parodies as well.

KitGuru Says: I would imagine that nude content from the show only serves to encourage viewership, wouldn't you? HBO is probably making a bit of a blunder by trying to take these clips down. It's never going to be able to keep up with the uploaders anyway.

  1. Why is kitguru, a site about tech, doing a report on nipples?
Is this site going to be renamed “TitGuru”?

    BoobGuru

HBO puts in nipples to get views, and this site reports about said nipples to get clicks!

  2. And yes it worked, I clicked it… doh!!!
