Virtual Reality is finally readily available to consumers, with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift now shipping out to buyers within days. However, there is still one big difference between these two headsets and that is room scale support. A lot of people seem to favour the Vive over the Rift due to its room scale technology and motion controllers but it looks like the Oculus Rift will be able to match that fairly soon.
In the new 1.6 firmware update, Oculus added support for up to four sensors to be connected at once, which as RealityCheckVR points out, would pave the way for a very big and very accurate room scale experience.
Connecting four sensors won't be a necessity though, Reality Check VR is a developer himself and has already tested the Rift CV1's room scale capabilities in a 3×3 meter space with just one sensor. Throw in the upcoming Oculus Touch controllers, which release to the public later this year, and sure enough, the Rift should be able to match the Vive on this front.
Oculus hasn't really made a big push for room scale yet but perhaps the company will start talking more about it after Oculus Connect 3, which takes place in October.

KitGuru Says: It looks like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift could end up on equal footing as far as motion controllers and room scale technology is involved. Pair that with Oculus's recent decision to ease up a bit on the DRM front and perhaps the company will start winning people over again.
