We have known for a while that Samsung is planning to officially announce the Galaxy Note 7 and a new GearVR headset next week. However, now it looks like the company may have nothing truly ‘new’ to show as a fresh batch of PR leaks hit the web today, giving us more official details on Samsung’s upcoming announcements ahead of time.
The reliable OnLeaks is behind this new information. This time, he leaked some new images of the Galaxy Note 7 itself in black, silver and blue. On top of that, he revealed the new GearVR, which comes in black this time and is once again, ‘powered by Oculus’.
Like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7, the Galaxy Note 7 is built around a metal frame with a glass front and back. Nowhereelse.fr also managed to confirm that the device is just 7.9mm thick and comes with IP68 dust and waterproof certification.
As far as specifications go, we are getting a new 5.7-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display with curved side edges. Under the hood will be an eight core chip clocked at 2.3GHz and 4GB of RAM so it should be able to handle plenty of apps and multitasking duties. There will be dual 12 megapixel cameras with an 7/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. Finally, USB Type-C, fingerprint/iris scanners, 64GB of storage and a 3500mAh battery have been confirmed.

KitGuru Says: So there you have it, Samsung’s next batch of devices for 2016 will be hitting store shelves next month and presumably there’s nothing really ‘new’ Samsung can tell us at its event next week. Are any of you guys looking to pick up a new Samsung phone this year? Do you think you’ll get the new Note?
If only I could get this via the Samsung Upgrade program :/
I got the new toy grins at the moment. My wife bought me a OnePlus3 for our anniversary next month and it arrived yesterday. Of course Im moving up from a Samsung Galaxy S5 so its quite a step up. Im a very very happy tech-nerd, the specs are ridiculous and its built like a tank.
If only the note didn’t have the edge screen. I say leave the edge screen to the Galaxy S series.

As I understand it, that edge screen is far more popular than the regular screen. If that’s the case, it makes sense from a marketing perspective.
