The Gwent beta has been pushed back a bit

Back at E3 this year, CD Projekt Red took to the stage to officially announce a standalone version of Gwent, the much loved card game that debuted in The Witcher 3 last year. Originally, people were going to get their first chance to play in September but it looks like things need a bit more work.

This week, CD Projekt Red announced that Gwent would now be going in to closed beta on the 25th of October, rather than releasing in September.

“At E3 we announced that we'd launch the Closed Beta of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game in September. Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing, we know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline.”

So if you signed up for the Gwent beta and have been waiting for launch, you can now expect to get your hands on the game for the first time in late October.

KitGuru Says: Delays can be disappointing but a few extra weeks waiting for Gwent won’t hurt. In the meantime, we still have plenty of Gwent to play in The Witcher 3. Are any of you looking forward to the standalone version of Gwent? Have you signed up for the beta?
