Making music with paintings: the TiltBrush music video

One of the more interesting features to come out of virtual reality development in recent weeks was the introduction of audio-reactive brushes in 3D painting experience, TiltBrush. Users have been experimenting with it since and it's lead to some amazing creations, like this VR painting music video.

The song used for this one is Whipping Boy, by Ball Park Music and the visuals were put together by none other than BPM's frontman, Sam Cromack. Everything you see in the video was hand drawn, with the animation handled by the in-game audio reactions and filmed, mostly in real time, using the main player's perspective in the VR painting. What's so special about the new brush strokes added to TiltBrush recently, is that depending on what music you have playing at the time, they will react to it. That means lines bounce around, change colour, or thump away in time to the music. It's lead to all sorts of fun creations like the above video and some VR DJing like UploadVR's own creations: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW0wDgEIi3g']
