On 4th October 2016 Drobo announced the world’s first self-managing USB Type-C storage solution. It offers 5 bays, each of which can take the biggest 3.5″ desktop drives available today – with a maximum volume capability of 64TB and support for Drobo's BeyondRAID technology. KitGuru readers have the chance to win one of these high-spec devices in an exclusive competition!
Connection to the Drobo 5C is through a USB 3.0 Type-C connection which enables read speeds of up to 241MB/sec from your array. Don't worry if your rig doesn't have a Type C port, Drobo include a USB-A to USB-C cable for backward compatibility. It will be on sale by the time you read this for £349.
Designed to be an affordable, secure storage array for everyone, Drobo believe that the 5C is simple to set up and that the integrated informational LEDs are as easy to read as a traffic light. It has an internal battery back-up in case of power failure and spends its spare time organising data and scrubbing unused blocks clean.
You can read more about the Drobo 5C on its product page HERE.

KitGuru says: Good luck!
My last one could barely stream dvd quality music without locking up, my my lightroom archives took forever. bandwidth was so slow in the array I literally had to build my own raid for actual storage and only use my drobo for long term available backups. Seriously… who could actually want one of these?
I sent email with my mobile phone and it appears it sent it twice at the same time. I hope they won’t receive both messages. 😀
