Weird Al Yankovic to close out Blizzcon show

Although it doesn't look like Blizzard will be making any announcements about legacy servers at this year's Blizzcon event, it is looking to keep people entertained throughout. To help close out the show, it's hired on parody song writer/performer, Weird Al Yankovich.

Of course Blizzard usually takes on the services of a popular entertainer/musician to finish up the show. In 2015 it had Linkin Park, in 2014 Metallica and Blink-182 the year before that. Weird Al will no doubt have a number of classic songs in mind for his performance, though we wouldn't be surprised if there was something gaming related thrown in for good measure too.

This one will probably feature. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw']

“We’re super excited to close out our tenth BlizzCon with a performance from an epic showman—and fellow geek,” said Blizzard CEO, Mike Morhaim in a statement (via PCGN). “Weird Al has entertained millions of people around the world with his hilarious music, and we’re thrilled that he’s bringing mandatory fun to the show and everyone following along with a Virtual Ticket.”

Indeed if you haven't got a real world ticket, that is the only way you'll be able to watch the show (legally). Virtual tickets can still be purchased by anyone, though they aren't cheap. Watching along with Blizzcon at home will set you back £40. And it's on Pacific time, so here in the UK, you'll be eight hours behind.

KitGuru Says: Are any of you guys attending in person or online? As much as there's some interesting stuff set to go on, I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay £40 just to watch along at home.

  1. The price is ridiculously high for a digital attendance ticket. If it were $10 or maybe $15 USD, I’d give it a thought. But what exactly am I getting for spending that much money on attending a live event? A few in-game visual exclusives and knowledge about the next Diablo thing a few hours before it’s posted online anyways? Incredible waste of money.

  2. Virus Alert and Its All About the Pentiums might also be there.
