The Asus ROG Claymore keyboard is finally almost ready

Way back in 2015, Asus first began showing off the Asus ROG Claymore mechanical keyboard, a premium keyboard that was set to take on the likes of the Corsair K70 RGB and Razer Black Widow. Time went by and things began to get quiet until January this year, when Asus released a teaser, showing off the final design and feature set for this keyboard. Eventually, things got quiet again but now, it looks like we may finally be able to get our hands on this keyboard soon.

This week in an updated news post, Asus published some new images of the Claymore and explained that it has been hard at work making tweaks due to feedback from previous prototypes. The post also promises that the Claymore will offer a “completely new experience which no other keyboard offers”.

That completely new experience comes in two parts. Firstly, the Claymore comes with a detachable number pad, which can clip on to both the left and right-hand sides of the keyboard. Alternatively, if you want to save on desk space, or prefer the tenkeyless design, you can leave the numpad off entirely.

Secondly, while there is already a huge wave of RGB keyboards on the market, Asus's Claymore is built with ‘Aura Sync', which as the name suggests, will sync colours and effects across Aura-enabled products. This includes some of Asus's ROG motherboards, as well as other peripherals, like gaming mice. Unfortunately, there is still no exact release date but Asus appears to be gearing up to deliver the Claymore before the end of the year.

We don't have much information on pricing right now either but I'd expect it to be in the neighbourhood of £150, similarly to other high-end RGB keyboards on the market.
