ASUS has finally launched the ROG Claymore

ASUS has been teasing its Republic of Gamers RGB keyboard since very early 2015 and after plenty of changes and a few different iterations, the keyboard is finally ready to launch. Today, ASUS announced that its ROG Claymore and ROG Claymore Core mechanical keyboards will finally hit the market next week.

The ROG Claymore is the world's first RGB backlit keyboard to include a detachable numpad, allowing this keyboard to appeal to those who prefer the full-sized layout and those who prefer a smaller ten-keyless design. On top of that, the numpad can be attached to either side of the keyboard.

The ROG Claymore comes with Cherry MX RGB switches, the same featured in the Corsair K70 RGB, though aside from Red, Blue and Brown flavours, you will also be able to buy a Black switch version. The Claymore also comes with a durable aluminium chassis, which carries the usual ROG design flair. Aside from that, this is also the first keyboard to come equipped with support for ASUS Aura Sync, which will allow those with an Asus motherboard, GPU and peripherals to sync the colours across the whole lot.

The Asus ROG Claymore Core (The version without the Numpad), will be available from the 14th of November here in the UK, while the full-sized ROG Claymore will be available at a later date. Those who buy the Core will be able to buy the numpad separately later on too. Pricing is high though, with the Core sitting at £139.99 MSRP.

KitGuru Says: As much as I like the look of the ROG Claymore keyboard, that price is very high indeed for a ten-keyless board. Hopefully the full-sized version won't end up costing a huge amount more but that remains to be seen for now. Are any of you looking to pick up a new mechanical keyboard this year? How much are you willing to spend on a decent keyboard?

  1. One year ago I decided to abandon my previous work and I never felt this good… I started freelancing from home, over a website I stumbled upon over internet, few hrs every day, and I make much more than i did on my office job… Payment i got for last month was for 9k… Great thing about this job is the more free time i got for my kids… KORTA.NU/MDe

  2. Kinda hard to justify such a high price tag with no number pad. Especially when some games even use the number pad for controls (GTA IV and V as examples).

  3. Asus tax in full effect as usual!! Gotta pity the suckers who fall for this crap every time…

  4. Finally! I’ve been waiting for this keyboard since the first announcement. I will be getting the CORE with Cherry MX Brown switches.

  5. After 5 yrs I finally quit my old job and I never felt better in my life… I started doing a job on-line, for this company I discovered online, several hours every day, and I profit now much more than i did on my old job… Last check i got was for Nine thousand dollars… Great thing about this gig is the more free time i got with my family… KORTA.NU/MDe

  6. i hate kbds … no matter how fantastic… having one row-high enter key

  7. Meanwhile, the most popular TKL RGB keyboard, the K65, is sitting at £135 MSRP as well. Its price will go down soon, before Christmas.
You sound like you’ve never owned a mech keyboard before.

  8. On my second, an RGB K70 that I paid £90 for brand new.

  9. That how MSRP works. If Corsair comes out with a new TKL keyboard right now, it’ll have an MSRP of ~£130-£140, but you won’t have to pay that much a while later. And you’ll see how dumb your logic is, sincerely .

  10. Looks cool, but it’s overpriced. I still prefer my Ducky Shine 5.
